Ryan Fitzgerald
Ryan Fitzgerald is the Northwest Credit Union Association Vice President of Legislative Affairs for the State of Idaho. Fitzgerald works on behalf of Idaho credit unions and their members to advocate for sound policy and legislation that is beneficial and supportive of the credit union movement. He’s a passionate advocate for credit union interests and, as a native Idahoan, is excited to help Idaho credit unions connect with their local legislators and statewide government officials. Fitzgerald also serves as treasurer for the ICULAC PAC, and assists the NWCUA team with federal lobbying and ongoing grassroots outreach efforts.
Prior to joining NWCUA, Fitzgerald was the managing partner for a government affairs and association management firm in Idaho, advocating for a variety of legislative subjects and specific policy initiatives at both the state and federal levels. He previously served as the director of the Washington, D.C. office for the State of Idaho and Governor Dirk Kempthorne. During his tenure, he successfully advocated for federal legislation, programs and appropriations that were priorities for the governor, the Idaho legislature and state agencies. Fitzgerald was previously a part of the legislative staff for then-U. S. Senator Kempthorne. He has worked as a legislative consultant for leading associations and corporations on issues regarding transportation, telecommunications, education, public lands and federal procurement.
Fitzgerald graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Criminal Justice/Political Science. He is an experienced public affairs, communications, and government relations professional and brings his diverse background and knowledge to NWCUA.
As a long-time credit union member, Fitzgerald is passionate about the “People Helping People” mantra that defines the credit union movement.
