Oregon Congressional Delegation Champions MBL Relief
May 29, 2020
As reported by Matthew Kish with the Portland Business Journal, in a recent conversation with the Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) Business Community, four members of the Oregon Congressional delegation called for more financial relief for communities of color.
In the conversation Congresswoman Bonamici noted her support for the House version of a bill that would lift the cap on business lending by credit unions. [Senator] Wyden sponsored the Senate version of the legislation. (H.R. 6789/S. 3676)
“There is no reason why credit unions should be limited in how they can help small business members,” Bonamici said.
We continue to advocate for the passage of these bills in the House and Senate and estimate the passage would allow for up to $5 billion in loans for small businesses. We also continue to work closely with the Oregon Governor’s office as the unveil efforts to help more women and people of color obtain PPP loans in the state.
