WA House Approves Emergency Funding for Coronavirus Response

The Washington State House of Representatives today unanimously approved a measure supporting efforts to combat the spread of coronavirus in the state. The legislation makes $100 million from the state’s emergency reserves available to state public health agencies and local municipalities that can go toward expanded testing, quarantine sites, and other necessary steps. 

The state will continue to receive federal funding, but making the state emergency funds available now will allow a quicker response if needed. 

We expect the Senate to take up the measure soon as the Legislature has eight days left in the ongoing session.
