The Northwest Credit Union Association’s Councils provide a forum for peer groups to connect, share experiences, and learn from each other. Members enjoy networking opportunities, admission to all Council-specific meetings, and unlimited access to a Council-specific listserv.

Council Disciplines & Dates

Collectors’ Council

The Collectors’ Council provides an opportunity to share challenges, successes, and trends with collection and recovery peers. The demand to keep delinquencies low and recoveries high is challenging for any professional in this field. By meeting regularly with peers, participants can gain a new perspective and share knowledge that will help make this task easier while improving their credit union’s ability to accomplish its goals.

New for 2017! Commercial Services Council

The Commercial Services Council provides an opportunity to discuss best practices and connect with other credit union professionals involved in similar programs. Topics discussed will range from business deposit and loan products to business development and marketing strategies specific to MBL and commercial service programs. Two annual meetings provide an outlet and a source for solving problems that will further the success of credit unions.

Compliance Council

The Compliance Council brings Northwest compliance professionals together to discuss the challenges inherent in keeping credit unions compliant with the regulations that govern them. The Council provides opportunities to meet with your counterparts from other credit unions, discuss upcoming regulatory changes, and devise strategies to implement them. Members benefit from the collective intelligence of compliance peers, all trying to create best practices for credit unions.

HR & Trainers’ Council

The HR & Trainers’ Council provides a forum for credit union professionals in human resources and training to learn about new techniques, preview other credit union’s practices, and share professional presentations in this self-directed forum. The open format of this Council serves to encourage and recharge staff dealing with similar challenges and developments within the Credit Union Movement. Human resources and training professionals will gather to learn, teach, and pass on tips; providing resources, information, and networking and professional development opportunities to best prepare for what’s on the horizon.

Lenders’ Council

The Lenders’ Council is a community of lending professionals focused on the current and future lending needs of Northwest credit unions. Members of this Council will stay on top of matters affecting the lending industry by having access to a wealth of information through networking with fellow credit union lenders. The available peer support and resources in lending strategies will help bolster interest in the industry, while looking ahead to what’s on the horizon for credit union lending professionals.

Marketing, Business Development & Community Outreach Council

The Marketing, Business Development & Community Outreach Council provides professionals in the marketing, communications, media relations, public relations, business development, and community outreach fields the opportunity to network and share the challenges and successes in promoting their credit union’s products and services. The Council is interactive and belongs to the members. Beneficial presentations are offered along with the opportunity for our member credit unions to share in presentations and roundtable leadership. Three annual meetings provide an outlet and a source for solving problems that will further the success of credit unions.

Continued education and training of credit union employees helps keep the Credit Union Movement vibrant and competitive in the financial marketplace. We understand this can take a significant commitment of time and money. The Northwest Credit Union Foundation provides professional development scholarships awarding up to $1,500 per year for selected applicants.
