Call for Entries

Nominations for the Summit Awards are now being accepted. Award descriptions and links to the nomination forms are below. The deadline for entries is June 25.

Young Credit Union Leader of the Year Award

The Young Credit Union Leader of the Year Award is designed to engage, promote, and recognize the next generation of credit union professionals in the Northwest Credit Union Movement. This award, created for credit union professionals age 35 and under, aims to foster commitment to the development of credit unions in the years ahead. The candidate should meet the following criteria:

  1. Be 35 years of age or under at the time of the application.
  2. Currently employed by an affiliated credit union of the Northwest Credit Union Association.
  3. Serve as a dedicated credit union advocate who has met high benchmarks for legislative and regulatory grassroots participation.
  4. Provide service to the credit union community outside the usual scope of employment, including volunteerism or charitable works.
  5. Possess the willingness to go above and beyond their job description, demonstrating leadership and, as a result, attaining individual achievement.
  6. Any accomplishments need not be achieved solely during the 12 months prior to the date of entry and may include a cumulative time span.

Impact Award

The Impact Award recognizes excellence within the Northwest Credit Union Movement based on the values of positive impacts of credit unions. This category is open to credit union professionals or teams. Self-nomination is accepted for this award. The candidate, team, or credit union should meet the following qualifications:

  1. A credit union professional for a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  2. Currently employed by an affiliated credit union of the Northwest Credit Union Association.
  3. The development of innovative, successful credit union policies, practices, operations, advocacy efforts, or services to members within his/her own institution.
  4. The achievement of a major accomplishment within the credit union or the credit union industry that has had a positive impact on the organization and membership.
  5. Any accomplishments need not be achieved solely during the twelve (12) months prior to the date of entry and may include a cumulative time span.

Members on Main Street Award

The Members on Main Street Award recognizes an initiative that honors the membership characteristics specific to the credit union. Self-nomination is accepted for this award. The credit union should meet the following qualifications:

  1. This category is open to a single credit union only.
  2. The accomplishment(s) must have been achieved during the past two (2) years from the date of entry.
  3. Currently an affiliated credit union of the Northwest Credit Union Association.
  4. The development of an initiative, (marketing campaign, business model, community project, program, service, etc.) that honors the local, social, cultural or economic characteristics that are specific to the credit union membership.
  5. Entry must not have received any NWCUA or CUNA award in the past specifically related to this initiative.

Distinguished Director Award

The Distinguished Director Award recognizes the outstanding achievement and accomplishments of a credit union Board member who demonstrates commitment and leadership in credit union advocacy, community service, and commitment to the ongoing success of their credit union. The candidate should meet the following criteria:

  1. Serves as a dedicated credit union advocate who has met high benchmarks for legislative and regulatory grassroots participation. Specific examples include participation in an advocacy event, responding to a call to action, and donating to CULAC.
  2. Demonstrates a significant impact and contribution toward the success and advancement of the credit union in which he or she serves.
  3. Demonstrates dedication to the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People.”
  4. Currently a board member of an affiliated credit union of the Northwest Credit Union Association.
  5. Any accomplishments need not be achieved solely during the twelve (12) months prior to the date of entry and may include a cumulative time span.

Cooperation in Action

The Cooperation in Action Award recognizes two or more credit unions, or CU professionals from separate credit unions, working together in the spirit of cooperation and the impressive results that arise when collaboration occurs across any business or social border. The credit unions or micro-community should meet the following qualifications:

  1. The accomplishments must have occurred during the past twelve (12) months from the date of entry.
  2. Parties must be currently employed by an affiliated credit union of the Northwest Credit Union Association.
  3. Demonstrate dedication to one or more of the seven cooperative principles.
  4. Demonstrate how the collaboration resulted in a greater impact for all parties involved.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes a credit union professional who exemplifies outstanding overall and sustained leadership in the credit union movement with respect to social responsibility, CU philosophy, advocacy efforts, and community impact. The criterion for consideration of the award is as follows:

  1. Demonstrated outstanding accomplishments as a credit union leader.
  2. Served as a dedicated credit union advocate who has met high benchmarks for legislative and regulatory grassroots participation. Specific examples include participation in an advocacy event, responding to a call to action, and donating to CULAC.
  3. Participated in community, civic, and/or charitable activities in a leadership role.
  4. Dedicated time and effort in participation in credit union education/career development programs to achieve a higher level of knowledge and expertise about credit unions.
  5. Demonstrated leadership in promoting credit union philosophy and uniqueness through specific activities for members of the community.
  6. Currently employed by an affiliated credit union of the Northwest Credit Union Association.
