The Northwest Credit Union Association is proud to recognize and award the professionals, volunteers, and credit unions that have made outstanding contributions to the development and growth of the Credit Union Movement.

About the Awards Program

The Northwest Credit Union Association is proud to recognize those professionals, volunteers, credit unions, and micro-communities that have made outstanding contributions to the development and growth of the Credit Union Movement. Presented on the last night of our annual MAXX Convention in October are the Summit Awards recognizing credit union professionals who have reached the highest level of excellence in the Movement; Advocacy Awards honoring credit unions and advocates who help to elect and educate credit-union-friendly candidates; Micro-Communities in Action Awards honoring groups of credit unions for their service to the Movement; and the regional CUNA Awards honoring credit unions for outstanding community and financial education efforts.

Summit Awards

The Summit Awards program recognizes both credit union leaders and credit unions that have reached the highest levels of achievement, promoting credit union philosophy, innovation, and thought leadership that has had a significant and lasting impact on the Credit Union Movement. The categories are Young Credit Union Leader of the Year, Innovation and Impact, Distinguished Director, Members on Main Street, and the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Advocacy Awards

Credit union participation in the legislative and political process is essential for the long-term survival of our Movement. Strong advocacy programs are a key piece of winning legislative battles, defending legislative attacks, and giving credit unions the opportunity to thrive. Selected and determined by the Governmental Affairs Department, the Advocacy Awards recognize credit union grassroots participation in legislative and regulatory activities.

Micro-Communities in Action Awards

Northwest communities are the hands and feet of the Credit Union Movement. Whether they are building leaders, providing education, advocating for our cause, or serving in the community, they embody both the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People” and the 6th cooperative principle—cooperation among cooperatives. With the continued emergence and thriving of micro-communities, such as credit union Chapters, young professional networking groups, Credit Union Development Educators (CUDEs), and sister societies of the Northwest Chapter of the Global Women’s Leadership Network, the Awards Program now offers the broader category of Micro-Communities in Action.
