Essential Duties

  • Coach, counsel and monitor employee performance
  • Schedule staff, assign duties and establish priorities in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Interview and select qualified employees
  • Ensure compliance with required laws and regulations
  • Foster employee development through consistent coaching and training
  • Resolve member and employee problems or concerns in a timely, consistent and professional manner
  • Ensure communication and implementation of applicable policy and procedure revisions to the departments overseen
  • Responsible for the Credit Union’s accounting and fiscal reporting
  • Counsel’s management on fiscal control and profitability
  • Participates in all appropriate management planning sessions
  • Manages the accounting operations of the Credit Union. Maintains Credit Union depreciation and amortization schedules, accruals and prepaid expenses and payable. Initiates all adjusting entries
  • Responsible for general ledger reconciliation, analysis of financial accounts, and preparation of journal entries. Provide end-of-month close and produce monthly financial statements
  • Develop and implement processes to streamline credit union accounting procedures
  • Develop and maintain complex computer-based analyses and reports of credit union accounting records on a regular basis
  • Prepares annual operating budget and present to management for approval
  • Monitor the daily funds position, maintain adequate liquidity, advise CEO of investment positions, and execute investment decisions
  • Prepare and submit to appropriate government officials all information required by law or regulation
  • Institutes all necessary audits as deemed appropriate. Work with auditors, examiners, and audit committee
  • Supervise the preparation for all reconciliation of corporate accounts
  • Have an advisory role with ALCO
  • Coordinates all aspects of audit with management and staff.
  • Monitoring and funding the  allowance for loan loss
  • Reviewing and revising policies regarding: Investments, ALCO, Liquidity, Accounts Payable, Loan Loss, Collections
  • Oversees collections department and provides support, training and communications on an ongoing basis related to all collection activity
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Security/Compliance

  • Prevent unnecessary losses by remaining alert to surroundings and following security policies and procedures to provide a secure working environment
  • Provide staff with security training including opening and closing procedures, use of security devices and security processes
  • Serve as the credit union’s security officer following all guidelines detailed within the credit union’s security & safety policies, procedures and plans
  • Ensure compliance with all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering Compliance program, including but not limited to: Member Identification Program, CTR and SAR Filing, OFAC and FinCEN Compliance, Transaction Monitoring such as Sale of Monetary Instruments and Wiring Activity and any other government regulations related to BSA/AML compliance
  • Comprehend and comply with state and federal regulations, all established internal policies and procedures

Community Involvement/Activities

  • On a regular basis, represent the credit union at sponsored activities, business gatherings, events and community involvement with the objective of increased positive public image, Select Employee Group (SEG) growth and membership development
  • Support community involvement initiatives while encouraging staff participation
  • Assist with the credit union’s public relations efforts including serving as the credit union spokesperson when requested

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or equivalent required
  • Three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must also be experienced and knowledgeable with rules and regulations governing investments, asset, liability management (ALM), lending
  • Ensures the quality and quantity of work performed within area of responsibility is maintained at acceptable levels
  • Maintains personal job knowledge and management skill at the level needed to meet requirements of position
  • Ensures proper documentation and reporting in accordance with regulatory compliance
  • Ensure credit union confidentiality
  • Maintains a safe and workable environment for subordinates while promoting a team effort among staff
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
