Testing Analyst

Full-Time 40 Hours per Week Class 1 – Exempt

Department: Projects and Strategic Execution

Reports To: Strategic Execution Manager

Role:

The Testing Analyst is a central role that uses advanced knowledge of applications and user acceptance testing best practices to provide technical and process assistance to project team members and subject matter experts in identifying, designing and executing test plans. Works with cross-functional teams, including vendors, to plan and coordinate all testing deliverables and activities for strategic projects, system upgrades and process improvement efforts as appropriate. Serves on the Projects and Strategic Execution team to support Rogue’s Vision, Mission and Values.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

35% Leads stakeholders through the analysis of business requirements, system specifications, and other project documentation to drive testing timelines and deliverables. Works with project teams to understand testing needs and helps develop test plans and test cases to meet those needs.

20% Monitors testing progress and supports testers as needed to facilitate timely and accurate completion of the test plan. Reviews issues and gaps identified during testing with stakeholders and ensure that those items are brought to resolution.

20% Works with stakeholders throughout the organization to establish and maintain a consistent testing methodology. This will include collaborating with the internal training department on the development of training materials and procedures.

10% Serves as administrator for testing software(s) used by the organization. This includes system configuration, user management and upgrade and release management.

10% Maintains a testing roadmap to ensure proper visibility to upcoming testing needs. This roadmap will include current project work as well as scheduled system upgrades and other efforts when testing support is required.

5% Proactively performs other duties as needed or assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: One year to three years of similar or related experience.

Education: (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating, influencing, or training others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence or sell ideas or services to others.

Other Skills: Strong technical skills and ability to learn new technology quickly. Self-starter who is highly motivated and organized. Strong results orientation, with a focus on quality and attention to detail. Effective time management and prioritization skills. Flexibility to handle directional changes with the ability to juggle moving priorities to ensure success. Solid verbal and written communication skills and ability to transfer information easily to technical staff, team members, stakeholders and senior managers. Team player with demonstrated ability to work successfully with mixed teams of business and technical resources. Must be comfortable learning to interact with senior management and able to effectively communicate with all stakeholders. Experience negotiating win-win situations. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job and a high level of interpersonal skills are critical to the success of this position. Ability to analyze and assess software complexities. Ability to identify and mitigate risks. Must possess a predisposition towards action. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Familiarity with project management and various Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Methodologies is a plus.

Physical Requirements: Some adjusting or moving objects up to 30 pounds in all directions. Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers while using computer. Communicating with others to exchange information. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discriminations in sound. Close and continuous visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.

Work Environment: This job is an exempt position that requires flexibility in scheduling tasks and projects. The employee must independently monitor hours and judge the time needed to be spent on applicable duties. Employee must be capable of adjusting to unpredictable schedules proactively. As a direct representative of the credit union, the employee must conduct and present themselves courteously and professionally. Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, i.e., robbery. Travel to all credit union regions may be required.
