Job Description:

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Proposes and oversees technology initiatives and strategies that create value for members and the organization. Ensures that strategies and processes are well executed and aligned with systems and programs that enable change, growth, and stability. Ensures technology is reliable, secure, cost-efficient, and strategically relevant.  Champions Technology projects with cross-functional stakeholders to influence successful design and implementation.  Directs successful rollouts of software, hardware, new products, and services. Ensures applications and products have been fully tested and that code is appropriately documented using established revision control methodologies.
  2. Leads highly collaborative teams to ensure continuous learning, execution, and high-level service. Oversees the Infrastructure, Technical Operations, Applications, and Development teams. Utilizes Gallup strengths-based management principles and continuous coaching to provide team members with role clarity, clear performance expectations, meaningful recognition, skill development and professional growth paths. Develops a proactive culture of accountability and continuous learning within technology teams to ensure the organization is supported.  Monitors and makes recommendations to ensure team structure(s) are appropriate to support current and future business needs. 
  3. Collaborates with internal and external business partners to evaluate business challenges and propose technology solutions. Champion of Rivermark’s core values, mission and vision.  Creates a link with stakeholders including the leadership Team, technology staff, employees, and members. Stays current with latest trends in technological advances through actively engaging in industry training, and networking.  Forms relationships with vendors and holds them accountable to established SLA’s.  Designs and executes communication strategies and defines success criteria, tools and dashboards for leadership and the organization.
  4. Oversees budget and reporting to ensure credit union meets and exceeds goals, best practices, and metrics. Oversees departmental budgeting and forecasting to ensure a balance between innovative technologies and cost effectiveness. Partners with Information Security Team to ensure standards are implemented, monitored, and addressed. Influences technology governance through Data Governance, SDLC and Business Analysis to ensure safety and soundness of the organization.  Establishes efficiency and efficacy standards, provides recommendations for ongoing improvement of Technology infrastructure and operations. Identifies challenges, vulnerabilities, and opportunities in the Technology landscape and develops strategic solutions.


Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field or equivalent work experience.  Minimum five years progressively responsible cross-functional leadership experience within the technology field, including Infrastructure, Applications, or Security. Financial institution experience preferred.

  9. Ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrated professional written and verbal communication skills.
  10. Ability to convey complex issues and information into easily understood concepts and communications suitable for multiple levels of technical and non-technical audiences.
  11. Experience successfully maintaining and forecasting technology budgets.
  12. Proven ability to negotiate and work effectively with vendors and consultants.
  13. Ability to manage, drive and adapt to change.
  14. Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to fast-changing requirements.
  15. Advanced understanding of digital delivery channels and progressive technologies, including cloud technologies.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has direct supervisory responsibility.

Interpersonal Contacts

Continuous contact with employees. Frequent contact with vendors.


Occasional local travel. 

Workplace of Choice

This position has flexibility to work from home but does support staff that require in-office hours.  Schedule to be coordinated with management to ensure business need is met.
