If you enthusiastically answered “Yes!” to the questions above, this might be the Systems Engineer-II (SE-II) position for you!

Here’s the short list of typical responsibilities (not exhaustive, of course):

  • On a daily basis, the SE II will programmatically access and update back-end application APIs, write SQL scripts and stored procedures, swiftly build and deliver ETL/ELT jobs, develop and document all work in a repeatable process, and version all platform code in GIT Hub.
  • Support all ETL/ETL and Data Integration functions at the credit union, including accurate root cause analyses (RCA).
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of all Credit Union data quality and processes to resolve incorrect data results or quickly reinstate service in the event of job failures across multiple systems of record.
  • Provide accurate and rapid solutions to restore analytic functionality and ensure business confidence in new BI solutions.
  • Assemble complex data sets and technologies that meet functional / non-functional business requirements within relatively short time horizons (i.e. ‘Agile Sprints’).
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automate manual processes, optimize data delivery, and re-design infrastructure for enterprise Digital Transformation.
  • Conceptualize enterprise-level data architectural models to translate them to meaningful ETL/ELT batch jobs that integrate data from disparate platforms into one Master Data, DW, and DM platforms.
  • Lead proof-of-concept exercises to design new DW/DM/BI solutions for key business units.
  • Perform documentation and version control activities to ensure that the more recent and correct jobs are available for daily processing.
  • In alignment with the VP of IT and Data, swiftly and courteously respond to end-user requirements for new functionality, enhancements, data extracts, and report/job fixes.

Last, but not least, here are the typical qualifications for this position:

  • Requires Bachelor’s Degree or greater in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Administration, or other related discipline. May consider deep empirical systems integration and/or data warehousing experience / certifications in lieu of this degree.
  • 5+ years’ experience with configuring, mapping, and installing back-end APIs to instantly create reliable data transfer protocols between enterprise systems of record, cloud tech, data warehouses, and web servers.
  • 5+ years practical experience in programmatically building excellent extract, transformation, and load (ETL/ELT) solutions on industry standard tools /platforms like Matillion (preferred), Informatica, MicroStrategy, SAP BusinessObjects, IBM DataStage, or similar ETL/ELT tools.
  • 4+ years’ practical experience in working on leading raw SQL query, database stored procedure, try-catch error checking, and complex scripting technologies in tools such as DBeaver, TOAD IBM Data Studio, or SQL Server (SSMS) etc.
  • 2+ years’ practical experience in working with leading cloud platforms, MS Azure / Office 365 E3 or better preferred.
  • Be familiar with each of the credit union’s main relational databases: IBM DB2, Snowflake, MS SQL Server, and Salesforce Apex/SOQL.
  • Required Skills: Strong data warehouse / dimensional modeling practices using Snowflake; strong data architecture experience to explain why a chosen solution should be utilized for OLTP, OLAP, MDM, DW, DM, SCD/CDC, and BI; know how to swiftly implement diverse and accurate solutions to Production.
  • Desired Skills: Ability to grasp a comprehensive and holistic big picture of business innovation and data integration experience in Financial Services industry enterprise-level Digital Transformation projects and who is also able to code the desired and optimal solutions as the company’s foremost engineering authority in this area.
  • The Credit Union follows a hybrid work structure for some positions where employees can work remotely. On a weekly basis all WFH employees are required to be in office on Thursdays. Based on the demands of specific tasks or department requirements, WFH employees may need to be available for in office work at their manager’s discretion. Working from the office may be necessary for certain collaborative tasks.
