Staff Accountant
Job Description:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Responsible for preparation of financial statement data in accordance with GAAP
- Assist with preparation of NCUA 5300 Call Report, FR2900 and various other regulatory reports
- Responsible for proper accounting of the investment portfolio, to include but not limited to, recording purchases and sales, performing reconciliations, posting monthly journal entries, and updating pledging/safekeeping
- Contributes to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections
- Provides cross-training and support for all other duties and responsibilities within the accounting department
- Responsible for evaluating and updating departmental procedures and policies
- Assist with annual CPA, NCUA and compliance audits and examinations
- Performs reconciliations of general ledger, correspondent bank, fixed assets and prepaid accounts
- Ability to perform all accounting functions and have an understanding of Credit Union operations
- Provides professional and quality internal support to all Credit Union departments and staff
- Works directly with Controller and performs ad hoc tasks as assigned
- Handle multiple projects in a given time, including during deadline periods
Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Two or more years of related experience within a financial institution or related industry.
- Strong computer skills’ including Excel is a must.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Extensive experience with regulatory compliance
