Senior Systems Administrator

WECU is seeking a Senior System Administrator to join our Information Technology team located in Bellingham, WA. This role is responsible for assuring and maintaining the proper performance of the core processor critical to enterprise-wide operations, as well as assigned ancillary systems. Acts as an administrator for designated systems, informing/training staff on changes, adding/deleting/updating tools and/or security. Ensures consistent and timely processing of core sub-systems according to business requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
-Ensures that proper backup and disaster recovery policies and procedures are in place, functioning properly and periodically tested and reviewed.
-Ensures that all source programs and patches are tested adequately with all new core processor releases. Works to coordinate changes in or additions to equipment, programs and systems; acts as beta – site manager for designated systems as needed.
-Serves as a resource for the organization and determines solutions to maintain and administer designated systems. Performs analysis and testing of all new system enhancements, configuration changes, and productivity tools.
-Logs/tracks system errors and problems with designated systems. Writes user and technical documentation for core processor and assigned applications.
-Acts as a resource for technical and compliance issues, collaborating when needed with other internal and external parties. Assists users in solving routine system software, hardware and procedure problems.
-Responsible for training IT employees on designated systems and associated auxiliary devices. Ensures all affected staff are trained or updated in use of computer programs and hardware that relate to designated systems.
-Advises committees on system requirements for special projects and manages technical projects as assigned.
-Interacts with management to determine requirements for new and modified software and hardware and provides recommendations for the advancement of technology within the organization.
-Responsible for keeping abreast of all matters related to designated systems. This includes staying current in knowledge of these systems, systems and documentation updates, user updates on new features, and/or obtaining outside expertise when necessary. Measures such changes against both current and upcoming business requirements, and makes recommendations to ensure deliverables, cost projections, and timetables are met.
-Accountable for annual budgets pertaining to designated systems. This includes maintenance contracts, planning, evaluation, and purchases of software and hardware to assure reliable performance of these systems.
-Liaison to all outside vendors and support centers to interface other computer systems with the designated systems.
-Acts as a liaison between IT and end users.
-Responds to escalated Service Desk incidents and problems related to designated systems.
-Follows policy and procedures related to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) daily to ensure compliance with current regulations. Follows policy and procedures related to SARs by reporting suspicious activity to the Compliance department.
Responsible for filling out an incident report for detected computer intrusion of Credit Union computer systems per Bank Secrecy Act. Completes mandatory BSA/AML annual training via online web course.
-Other duties as assigned by management.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATION:
Education and Experience
-Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology preferred.
-5 years system administration experience required.
-A minimum of 8 years system administration experience in the financial services industry desired.
Banking/Credit Union system administration experience preferred.
-Working knowledge of Fiserv DNA and CCM operating systems required.
-Demonstrated experience with data processing.
-Demonstrated experience with job scheduling.
-Ability to operate computer hardware, detect and resolve operation problems.
-Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
-Must have the ability to work within a team environment and motivate employees to ensure efficient workflow. A high level of interpersonal skills necessary to represent credit union in a positive fashion.
-Interpersonal skills to represent credit union positively in dealing with management, supervisors, staff and vendors.
-Ability to represent the credit union in a positive professional manner.
