Senior Internal Auditor

Under the supervision of the VP Internal Audit and the Supervisory Committee, conducts or performs the auditing of operational compliance and efficiency of various departments within the Credit Union by performing the following essential functions.

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

LocationWe allow remote work from the following states; Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Florida, New Mexico, Texas, Alabama, Arizona, Tennessee, Kansas, and Maine. You must reside or be willing to relocate to one of the approved listed states. TSCU does not offer relocation assistance.

Salary:$71,402.50-$89,253.12/annually depending on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

Essential Functions and Tasks

  • Participates in the development of annual audit plans.
  • Works with credit union management to ensure an effective audit.
  • Develops forms and procedures to be used for audit plan.
  • Audits records of departments and branches and interviews associates to ensure proper recording of transactions and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Analyzes data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in controls, duplication of effort, extravagance, fraud, or lack of compliance with laws, government regulations, and management policies or procedures.
  • Ensures that the internal audit function is carried out in a manner consistent with IIA published professional practices and standards.
  • Examines department/branch activities for compliance with management plans and policies.
  • Reviews accounting systems and related accounting controls to ensure the integrity and propriety of financial information.
  • Assesses the proper accountability of assets by conducting inventories and related audit procedures.
  • Reviews records pertaining to staff and material assets, such as equipment and buildings, to determine degree to which they are utilized.
  • Conducts special reviews/projects such as those required to discover causes of detected fraud and to develop controls for fraud prevention.
  • Travels regularly to branch offices to conduct audits.
  • May assist with facilitation of regulatory exam.
  • May supervise internal audit staff in the performance of individual audits.
  • May supervise and assist contract audit personnel in the performance of individual audits.
  • Communicates audit findings and significant audit issues to the Supervisory Committee.
  • Maintains a strong follow-up process on audit recommendations that ensures proper mitigation is implemented by management.

Education & Experience Required

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in a related field

Experience

  • 8+ years of auditing experience. Experience in Risk Management may be considered.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BAA)

Experience

  • 8+years of auditing experience in a financial institution (preferably a credit union)
