Role Summary:

The Mortgage Operations Manager/Team Leader will direct, manage and coordinate the functions of the Mortgage Lending Department and staff. Ensure and maintain a profitable mortgage-lending portfolio, including production, servicing, and management of a loan portfolio consistent with established policies and procedures. Project professional image, exercise independent judgment, and maintain confidentiality with all customer and sensitive data.

What You Will Be Doing:

  1. Leads the Mortgage Lending Department operations and coordinate the Credit Union lending programs consistent with Credit Union objectives.
  2. Develop underwriting department and procedures, and implement strategies that will result in the sale into the secondary market or into our portfolio of residential loans.
  3. Identify and monitor all loans held for sale, providing senior management with detailed reports on an ongoing basis.
  4. Prepare periodic loan department updates and periodic reports for management’s financial and operational reports, including statistics of the loan portfolio, status, delinquency, new loans, and interest rate terms.
  5. Interview, train, evaluate, supervise, mentor, and develop department staff as needed to provide responsive and professional service to our membership.
  6. Provide recommendation to management of changes to products, loan policies and procedures by following lending laws and regulations.
  7. Price and sell products consistent with Credit Union objectives.
  8. Perform and supervise selling, packaging and timely delivery of loans consistent with requirements of investors (Conventional, Jumbo’s, Construction, FHA, FNMA, HUD, VA and private).
  9. Maintain all contacts with established investors and implement marketing techniques that will develop prospective secondary market investors.
  10. Maintain thorough and current knowledge of the Conventional, Jumbo’s, Construction, FHA, FNMA, HUD, VA and other investor requirements; recommend changes as necessary to the Credit Union policy manual.
  11. Create and maintain current knowledge of Credit Union lending policies and market areas.
  12. Participate in community and business development activities such as Chamber of Commerce, Board of Realtors and Homebuilders.
  13. Communicate effectively with Credit Union employees; ensure coordination and exchange of information to accomplish Credit Union goals. Display respect, trust and dignity, acting in the best interest of the credit union. Lead by example; display solid ethics and integrity at all times. Control risk and manage real estate lending in a safe and sound manner.
  14. Maintain and protect all sensitive data utilizing the highest standard of confidentiality and professionalism.
  15. Directs the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) data management activities. Ensure completeness and accuracy of HMDA data reported; timely reporting to the CFPB; and assisting in regulatory training.
  16. Maintains a relationship with vendors and other network contacts
  17. Responsible for compliance with regulatory requirements.
  18. Administer and monitor pricing including loan level pricing adjustments.
  19. Attend credit union training sessions, conferences, or seminars as approved by supervisor. Maintain awareness of policies and regulations related to duties and responsibilities.
  20. Must understand and perform Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) functions as applicable to job responsibilities.

About You:

  1. Ability to multi-task on numerous projects simultaneously.

What You Will Need:

  1. Five to eight years of solid understanding with Mortgage Cadence Loan Origination System desired.
  2. Ten+ years of similar or related experience; financial organization experience desired.
  3. Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field; or equivalent completion of a specialized course of study, training, and experience.
  4. Obtain and maintain valid NMLS Mortgage Loan Originator Identification (MLO) Number.
  5. Experience in underwriting real estate loans. Familiarity with secondary mortgage market and underwriting requirements.
  6. Extensive knowledge of Conventional, Jumbo’s, Construction, FNMA, HUD, FHA and VA underwriting guidelines.
  7. Knowledge of packaging, delivering and executing commitments to secondary markets.
  8. Proven professional sales ability in a financial or real estate venue.
  9. Experience in analyzing and understanding local and national economic data and making and setting marketing and pricing strategies.
  10. Extensive knowledge of real estate lending practices and procedures.
  11. Proficiency with standard office equipment, lending software, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  12. Some travel is required to achieve training and business objectives.
  13. A valid driver license is required.
