Job Description:

Nordstrom Federal Credit Union is seeking an experienced Loan Officer to join our team. One year of previous lending experience preferred.

This position is responsible for delivering quality member service through face-to-face or telephone contact. Provide information and member support concerning the credit union and its products and services to credit union members, while ensuring the highest quality of member service according to credit union policies and procedures and Federal and State rules and regulations. Open accounts for members, interview, and professionally handle the member’s daily needs. Prepare, analyze, and process all required forms and documentation for consumer loan products. Interview and evaluate applicants for loans. Approve or deny loan applications within prescribed parameters. Provide a variety of transaction services to members including loan processing.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Interview consumer loan applicants and provide information on consumer loan products that best meet the member’s needs. Request and review all required information and documentation to secure a loan.
  • Utilize the credit union computer systems to obtain credit reports, verify debts, and estimate monthly payments for any outstanding debts not listed and update information accordingly. Validate and update any missing information.
  • Determine collateral needs and payment plans for members.
  • Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all related policies and procedures, rules and regulations for loans, VISA, and deposit products.
  • Provide in-person and by-telephone general and specific service-related information concerning credit union products or policies.
  • Handle transfers of shares to loan payments, share withdrawals, check requests, CD transactions, line of credit advances, and any other requests received from members via face-to-face and telephone.
  • Open new accounts and service existing accounts. Set up new account files and provide members with all necessary information for membership.
  • Promote credit union products and services based on member needs that are obtained from member interviews and/or review of member’s account.
  • Receive share drafts/checks and cash for deposit to accounts, verify amounts, examine share drafts/checks for proper endorsement, and enter deposits into computer records.
