Job Description:

Principles/Accountabilities

Auditing (75%)
• Develop and execute a risk-based internal audit plan in accordance with industry standards and ethical guidelines.
• Conduct independent and objective audit projects to assess operational effectiveness, financial reporting reliability, and compliance with laws and regulations.
• Review internal controls, policies, and procedures, and initiate follow-up actions to ensure corrective measures are taken.

Oversight/Coordination of External Auditors and Examiners (15%)
• Act as the main point of contact for external auditors and examiners, representing management and the Supervisory Committee during audits and examinations.
• Coordinate third-party audits, including security, compliance, opinion, and examinations by regulatory authorities.

Other (10%)
• Stay informed about relevant policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and credit union trends.
• Organize and facilitate quarterly meetings of the Supervisory Committee.
• Attend Board of Director, Senior Management, and Risk Committee meetings as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned, ensuring the independence of the position is not compromised.

Desired Qualifications:

Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience
2 years of audit experience, with a preference for a financial institution background. Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification preferred. Certification from an industry-recognized program (CCUIA, CUCE, NCCO, etc.) or the ability to obtain within one year of hire is desired.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, efficiency, and self-motivation.
• Excellent analytical abilities, with the capability to research, interpret laws and regulations, and provide practical recommendations and solutions.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with all levels of management, staff, and members.
• Knowledge of accounting in financial institutions and GAAP.

The salary range is $75,000 – $95,000. Benefits include – Medical, dental and vision insurance, bonus structure, 401K with matching, PTO, sick leave and 20 hours paid to volunteer in the community.
