Job Description:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Develops strong working relationships through the HR functions in support of the credit union’s current and future strategic direction and goals; partners with organizational leaders to understand and develop HR strategies related to the recruitment, engagement, performance and retention of staff
  • Provides consultative support to the HR team and organizational leaders to help in navigating complex and sensitive personnel situations; oversees employee investigations, conflict resolution, disciplinary meetings, and terminations
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, screening, and hiring of qualified, diverse, high caliber job applicants; collaborates with department heads to understand the skills and competencies required for open jobs
  • Monitors and maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and stays abreast of industry and HR related trends and best practices; recommends changes to HR and credit union policies, practices, and programs as needed
  • Partners in the development, administration, and communication of employee compensation and benefit programs; makes recommendations to ensure the competiveness of Verity’s benefit programs
  • Communicates effectively with employees at all level of the organization, external candidates, and vendors; maintains a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism in HR matters and models the credit union’s values in all interactions
  • Serves as an advocate for the credit union, organizational leaders, and staff; considers, balances, represents, and protects the needs and best interests of the various stakeholder groups
  • Assists with special HR projects, training initiatives, research, analysis, and reporting as needed; completes other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Human Relations, Communications, or relevant field of study desired
  • Experience performing a wide range of Human Resource functions
  • PHR or SPHR certification desired
  • Experience in financial industry desired

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, benefits, orientations, project management, and training
  • Strong familiarity with employment law
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented, and strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Presents a positive and professional image to staff and members
  • Works well independently and as a team member
  • Uses a personal computer and proficient in computer applications—MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
