Role Summary:

Under the direction of the Mortgage Operations Manager/Team Leader, the Home Loan Processor/Underwriter will coordinate members’ needs with available programs by acquiring mortgage loan approval for all qualified applicants within an established time frame, from submission to funding. Project a professional image and maintain confidentiality with all customer and sensitive data.

What You Will Be Doing:

  1. Process loans to meet credit union and secondary market investor guidelines.
  2. Order and evaluate appraisals, title policy, credit reports, and income verifications.
  3. Connect with originator and borrower regarding follow-up documentation needed. Ensure that all underwriting conditions are cleared prior to funding.
  4. Package application and pre-underwrite with attention to detail for favorable underwriting results and for accurate supporting documentation.
  5. Prepare periodic reports as requested by Supervisor to reflect trends and activity.
  6. Package and ship FHA, VA, and conventional loans post-closing.
  7. Meet minimum established individual goals each month.
  8. Pay bills from appraisers, title companies, credit reports, flood insurance, and others as needed.
  9. Reconcile funding package for accuracy.
  10. Monitor and close within the lock period is the responsibility of this position.
  11. Must understand and perform Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) functions as applicable to job responsibilities.
  12. Maintain a solid understanding of all mortgage products and rates within the credit union.
  13. Maintain a dependable record of attendance and dedication.
  14. Display mutual respect, trust and dignity, acting in the best interest of the credit union. Lead by example by displaying solid ethics and integrity at all times.
  15. Maintain and protect all sensitive data utilizing the highest standard of confidentiality and integrity. Consistently display respect for all areas of diversity and levels of knowledge.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

About You:

  1. Ability to multi-task on numerous projects simultaneously.
  2. Ability to effectively communicate in writing, in person and over the phone.
  3. Ability to make quality decisions in a timely manner with extreme attention to detail.
  4. Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
  5. Ability to promote and maintain a productive work environment.

What You Will Need:

  1. One to three years of similar or related experience; financial or real estate experience desired.
  2. High school diploma; or equivalent completion of specialized course of study, training, and experience.
  3. Experience in processing and underwriting real estate loans desired. Familiarity with secondary mortgage market and underwriting requirements desired.
  4. Experience with Desktop Underwriting or other lending-specific software desired.
  5. Proven professional sales ability in a financial or real estate venue desired.
  6. Proficiency with standard office equipment, lending software, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  7. Some travel is required to achieve training and business objectives.
  8. A valid driver license is required
