The Financial Investment Advisor acts as a trusted advisor in all interactions with members and potential members. They meet with members and potential members to determine appropriate investment options and financial planning scenarios. This Advisor promotes Oregon Community Investment Services products and services. They continually seek to increase asset base of Oregon Community Investment Services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Meet with members to establish and deepen relationships.
  • Provide financial planning support for members.
  • Assist members at all levels of wealth accumulation with developing strategies to enhance individual financial health.
  • Educate members regarding the range of applicable investment options available to them.
  • Continually build book of business by reaching out to potential members to educate about Oregon Community Investment Services.
  • Develop internal and external referral sources through participation in Credit Union events, community activities and participation in seminars to professional groups. Develop a network of external experts to provide business and legal advice to promote the success of the department. Maintain positive business relations with third party vendors. 
  • Maintain accurate client account records in accordance with applicable regulations and OCCU procedures.
  • Assist the team with logistics for member educational seminars that promote the sale and use of Oregon Community Investment Services products and services.
  • Understand OCCU’s products and services, and actively recommend appropriate products and services to achieve OCCU’s goals.
  • Share and communicate ideas and processes in verbal and written form to business units and staff in a clear and concise manner. Present training effectively to other staff and branch personal as needed.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, strong organization and attention to detail. Organize workload to ensure priority responsibilities are completed as scheduled and in a timely manner.
  • Must follow all BSA regulations, including completing CTR reports when applicable, reporting suspicious activity via SAR when applicable and completing annual training.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding all sensitive, confidential and proprietary Credit Union information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience:

Three to five years of similar or related experience.

Education:

  • Possess the highest interpersonal skills, with an entrepreneurial attitude towards expanding the client base. Demonstrate sound judgment in adopting the investment positions agreed to by clients. Prior experience as a stockbroker or financial planner required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher. Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Fully licensed with Series 7, 65/66 and state insurance licenses required.
  • Certified Financial Planner certification preferred.
