Essential Duties

Maintain operational stability of the Symitar/IBM servers; identify related software and/or hardware malfunctions. Make suggestions to Supervisor or manager in a timely manner and implement corrective action. Ensure systems quality assurance standards are met and maintain operator records such as machine performance logs, production reports and problem status reports. Support and respond to after-hour system pages from core operating system and automation software.

Participate in the planning, installation, documentation, testing, and communication of timelines of hardware upgrades, software releases and/or patches, AIX updates, audio response system, automation system, and Symitar SQL storage systems. Communicate any upgrades or maintenance to appropriate Credit Union staff. Establish testing plans and schedules.

Adhere to IS department change control parameters regarding changes to core systems.

Assist in the coordination, testing, and review of the disaster recovery testing for the core operating system. Remain current on the core operating system failover process

Responsible for the daily monitoring of periodic jobs associated with core operating system and current automation software. Ensure the daily and period-end processing (including statements, credit reporting, share and loan rate changes and tax reporting) is conducted in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. Maintenance of the schedule of jobs as directed by the Core Systems Manager or Business Analyst team. This would include backup jobs and storage archival of backups. Archives DR procedures, statements, and tax forms into imaging system.

Participate in core operating system projects; develop project parameters, determine requirements, and establish timelines. Utilize expertise to review new data processing software. Develop and maintain documentation regarding the purpose and functionality of new or modified systems which may include programming notes, flow charts, diagrams and/or written instructions to highlight and explain the logical flow of new or revised process. Maintain regular updates to projects.

Participate in routine system maintenance. Modify job files, batch processing, parameters, test directories, consoles and print queues, security groups and other items associated with the Symitar core and automation software. Make changes at the request of Credit Union management and staff.

Support IS department by participating as a team member, respond to staff support IS requests and support calls regarding core operating systems and consistently meet IS support standard timelines.

Provide basic troubleshooting of Core Systems, including automation software. Communicate issues with Core Systems Manager. Use resources to promptly respond to end users, vendors, and management.

Develop and maintain a secure working environment that meets the existing Information Security Policy for development and implementation of new processes or when making improvements to existing processes.

Demonstrate strong regulatory knowledge applicable to this position and understand and comply with government regulations with particular emphasis on the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), US Patriot Act and related regulations.

Actively participate and fulfill expectations in the Credit Union Email Security Awareness Program as outlined in the Information Security Program Acknowledgement document.

Secondary Duties

Run scheduled backups, purges and regular jobs of the Core processing systems.

Help monitor the Core Processing Queue in the IS request system to ensure requests are resolved timely.

Utilize expertise to support the Core Systems Team or other areas of Information Systems in way that promotes cross training and knowledge sharing.

Actively participate in department and project meetings.

Qualifications

Experience:   One years to three years of similar or related experience.

Education:    (1) A two-year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
