Job Description:

Our consumer lending department is searching for a knowledgeable & analytical Loan Underwriter to join the indirect team. In this role, you will review and underwrite loans that originated from auto dealerships through the Credit Union Direct Lending platform (CUDL). Qualified candidates will have an analytical mindset, minimum 1 year previous loan underwriting experience, and the ability to conduct risk analysis. 

Here’s what you can expect from the job and what you need to be successful:

Job Duties:

  • Underwrite loan applications within credit union guidelines and evaluate loans to maximize organizational profit and minimize risk or loss
  • Review and verify accuracy of collateral details, employment profile, credit strength and all other pertinent loan documentation and information
  • Recognize, structure, present and approve additional loan opportunities to maximize member benefits
  • Serve as a resource to employees on underwriting questions
  • Provide adverse actions according to proper regulatory guidelines

Essential Skills:

  • Minimum 1 year previous high volume loan consumer underwriting experience within the financial industry; auto loans, credit cards, and unsecured loans/lines of credit
  • Minimum 1 year prior experience with Indirect Lending contracts 
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures for underwriting loans
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to offer viable and creative loan alternatives while staying within credit union risk tolerance
  • Ability to balance productivity and speed to meet service levels with quality underwriting to protect the credit union from undue risk
  • Must possess exceptional analytical skills with the ability to calculate lending ratios, conduct loan risk analysis and properly identify credit issues, fraud and/or other associated lending risks
  • Experience with finance computations,  lending calculators and general consumer loan applications
  • Comprehensive understanding of loan contracts including APR, amortization schedules, simple interest calculations

Location: Hillsboro, OR

Schedule: 40 hour work week, including Saturdays (8-10 hrs.)
