Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Follows regulatory and policy compliance requirements, which include those efforts in compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Regulations, Identity Theft Red Flags and other compliance related Policies.

2. Assists Commercial Loan Manager with the day-to day activities and operations of the Commercial Loan Department. Participate in establishing strategies for meeting department goals.

3. Lead staff towards attaining personal, and department goals by consistently communicating with them, actively guiding and coaching performance, training and addressing concerns in a fair, consistent and timely manner.

4. Facilitates and assists with the development of commercial loan clients, manages borrower expectations and establishes a valuable trust relationship, resulting in repeat business and loan referrals.

5. Provides superior member service. Corresponds, and coordinates with members, fellow staff, and external providers to facilitate timely loan processing, underwriting and closing.

6. Reviews appraisals and other valuation methods used by CU, title reports, flood reports, hazard insurance for accuracy and any other documents required for loan closing for accuracy and to ensure minimal risk to CU.

7. Responsible for preparing loan documents, auditing signed documents for completion and funding commercial loans according Credit Union guidelines and with a high level of accuracy.

8. Audits commercial loans for quality control. Tracks, monitors and follows up on outstanding required documents in a timely manner e.g. deeds, insurance, title policies.

9. Ensures timely and thorough monitoring of business loans through periodic reviews, continual analysis and proper documentation.

10. Partners with and supports Commercial Loan Officer(s) activity; acts as a commercial loan resource for staff and assists with staff lending training.

11. Assists Loan Officers with participation loans and responsible for DNA participation module setup and maintenance.

12. Processes commercial loan mortgage loan modifications and rate renewals.

13. Responsible for commercial loan servicing; participation loan payments, interest rate changes, loan maturities, payoffs, lien releases, insurance tracking, HMDA tracking and reporting, escrow and impounds.

14. Responsible for the administration of commercial loan documentation system (LaserPro).

15. Maintains up to date loan procedures manual. Recommends revisions and assists with implementing changes that will improve the operation of the department.

16. Must understand and comply with all laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to commercial lending and programs offered. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of commercial loan products, processing and documentation requirements for the Credit Union.

17. Support inter- and intra-departmental operations and work flow by providing assistance, information and cooperation.

18. Demonstrates visible support for management decisions.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person, and over the phone.

2. A high level of knowledge and understanding of real estate lending laws, regulations, and procedures.

3. Ability to retain a broad knowledge of tasks performed in department.

4. Strong analytical, time management and organizational skills and the capacity to integrate diverse objectives with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

5. Ability to remain flexible in order to adapt to changes in work environment; take initiative; good problem-prevention, and problem solving skills.

6. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

7. Ability to work with staff, members, and outside agencies professionally and tactfully.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Banking or equivalent financial experience and Business-related (i.e., accounting, economics, finance, management) college-level courses or financial industry-specific training.

2. Minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated progressive responsibilities in commercial lending and industry operations.

3. Minimum of 3-5 years of proven supervisory/management experience.

4. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, presentation/public speaking capability, and demonstrated analytical and organization skills.

5. Must possess a valid Oregon driver’s license.

6. Must be bondable.
