Essential Duties/Functions

·        Identify and develop new markets within the credit union’s footprint and expand lending opportunities in accordance with the credit union’s strategic plan.

·    Seeks opportunities to build relationships, working within the prescribed framework of policies and procedures to offer flexible and competitive financial solutions, including member business loans, lines of credit, SBA lending, commercial construction lending, deposit and other business products.  Gathers the vital business, financial and personal background information required. 

·    Reviews loan requests, credit history, financial documents and performs a detailed analysis of the resulting financial data to determine whether proposed application meets lending criteria outlined in Commercial Lending Policy and Procedures

·    Prepares proposed credit outlines (pre-flights), including recommendations for loan pricing and terms, and receiving concurrence from the credit approving officer/s prior to proceeding with in-depth client negotiations or “indications of interest”.

·   With the assistance of the Credit Analyst, prepares well developed credit approval requests that conform to the required underwriting format and guidelines set forth in Commercial Lending Procedures to ensure that all complex issues have been adequately addressed.

·   Maintains constructive and positive working relationships with loan applicants, borrowers, and their representatives, as well as referral sources and Commercial Lending team members.

·    Monitors loan portfolio, communicating directly with borrowers as appropriate to ensure that all required financial exhibits due dates are monitored, with exhibit received from business members in a timely manner.

·    Maintains the credit quality of their individual portfolio within credit union standards and guidelines; promptly surfaces any and all risk issues uncovered in the course of handling the portfolio. 

·        Provides advice and council to business members on financing related matters, representing the credit union’s best interests at all times.

·    Communicates declinations to business members and prospects in written or verbal form as required by Credit Union procedures and Federal Guidelines

·     Will perform other duties as assigned by Management.

·     Cultivates new business with prospective business members while maintaining contact with existing members.

·     Actively participates in the local community and business community at large.

·     Assures business member information is kept confidential.

 

Qualifications Experience/Education

 

·       Bachelor’s Degree; commensurate proven professional experience preferred.

·       Knowledge of credit union history and philosophy.

·    Minimum of three (3) years of commercial lending experience. 

Formal credit and/or commercial loan training or 3 to 5 years of direct credit underwriting experience.

Skills

·    Strong analytical, time management, and organizational skills with work exhibiting a high level of attention to detail.

·    Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to be persuasive one-on-one as well as in a group setting.

·    Proven ability to reach established annual loan production and retention goals.

·    Thorough understanding of basic principles of accounting, and financial analysis.

·    Digital literacy in word processing, financial software used for spreading financial information, Excel and Word. Use of time and customer management software such as
Access or Outlook desired.

·    Skills in discussion, facilitation and problem solving.

·    An entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to work successfully in a collaborative manner with a minimum of hands-on supervision.

Working Conditions

·        Indirect exposure to robbery.

·        Work is performed in an office environment. (Will be required to attend off-hours and off-site meetings and seminars.)

·        Physical effort may be required to lift and to move boxes of reports or loan documents (approximately 5 lbs. to 10 lbs.).

·        Corrected vision in the normal range to read documents and read a computer screen.

**This position is based in the city of Seattle in Washington State. Some work may be able to be temporarily performed remotely from home at locations inside of Washington State. This may be limited to the period in which the Headquarters office has limited in person staffing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
