Primary Function: Recovers Credit Union assets within legal limitations. Responsible for recovery of NSF negative shares and delinquent loans by reviewing member accounts and contacting members by telephone or in writing, recording all contacts and/or transactions. Initiates repossession order on Credit Union collateral as necessary, determining wholesale blue book value and condition of collateral upon repossession and disposition of repossessed collateral. Responds to all notifications from the courts on member accounts regarding garnishments, levies, probate, estate accounts, bankruptcies etc. Works with supervisor and/or Credit Union attorney to determine appropriate action on legal issues surrounding delinquent accounts. Prepares files for legal action and represents Credit Union at necessary court proceedings.

Required Skills: A qualified applicant will have on-the-job experience in collections and firm knowledge of applicable regulations and laws regarding collections; confidence in judgment, reasoning, patience and negotiation in solving members’ problems; excellent written and verbal communications; familiarity with a variety of software programs including Word and Excel; the ability to understand and retain a variety of detailed information. This person will be reliable, enjoy multi-tasking, and be able to work independently much of the time. Attention to detail and strong organizational and prioritization skills are a must.
