Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE:

Responsible for planning, organizing, scheduling, and directing the activities of the Business Services Department. Oversees all business lending functions including business accounts, and processing. Oversees and monitors the business loan portfolio, develops and implements departmental policies and procedures and modifies as needed.  Ensures Business Lending activities are conducted in accordance with established standards. Ensures business functions are delivered professionally and efficiently. This position is overseen by the VP of Business Services.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assumes responsibility for the development and implementation of effective Business Services Department policies, procedures, and planning, and compliance including Business Lending Operations. Conducts periodic reviews of existing policies and procedures to ensure they are effective and current
  • Ensures Department functions and work products are completed in accordance with established policies, procedures, program requirements, NCUA guidelines/regulations and related legal standards
  • Assists the Vice President of Business Services in developing short and long-term goals for the Business Services Department. Provides suggestions and recommendations for improved service delivery and business portfolio management. Seeks new methods to accomplish departmental tasks
  • Assumes responsibility for the effective administration of Business Lending functions, providing leadership to Business Services operational staff through effective communication and direction; conducts daily and weekly meetings to discuss policy and procedure changes, productivity, and areas for improvement
  • Assigns, directs, and appraises Business Services Department operational staff; evaluates work quality, efficiency and productivity formulating corrective action as needed and setting individual goals with staff members to assist them in achieving their full potentials
  • Assists in developing and writing polices, procedures, and standards for Business Lending Operations
  • Ensures work is of the highest quality
  • Tracks workflow. Ensures deadlines are kept, and records and loan documentation are complete and accurate. Oversees the compilation of monthly Department reports
  • Provides suggestions for improved service delivery and business portfolio management. Seeks new methods to accomplish departmental goals
  • Performs the job functions of the operational staff within the Business Services Department as needed for overflow, and for more complex loans/membership accounts
  • Maintains good business relationships with members assuring effective financial counseling is provided as needed; resolves complex member issues promptly and courteously
  • Establishes and maintains effective communication, coordination, and working relations with credit union employees, including assisting branches, ACU Training Department, and other departments as needed, and attending and participating in meetings and committees as requires, including the Business Loan Committee
  • Oversees or completes all Business Services special projects
  • Conducts periodic property inspections of loan portfolio properties
  • Trains and develops Business Services Department staff to perform at optimal level; identifies training gaps and develops appropriate training programs; conducts training sessions and cross trains as appropriate for department coverage
  • Coordinates, schedules, and directs operational areas of the department, managing work schedules and coverage to include approving timesheets and vacation requests for staff
  • Ensures the integrity and accuracy of all loan and account documents
  • Provides leadership to department employees through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication
  • Discusses areas needing improvement and encourage employee suggestions and ideas
  • Delivers performance feedback to include development plans and performance appraisals; clearly communicates department expectations; provides support for Business Services employees as needed
  • Represents the credit union in contact with business professionals and borrowers
  • Ensures requests, questions, and problems are courteously and professionally resolved
  • Ensures the credit union professional reputation is maintained both internally and externally
  • Assist ACU Training Department (new accounting opening) and serves branches and related departments as needed
  • Completes reports, records, and other documentation as required
  • Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required
  • Keeps the Vice President of Business Services informed of area activities and of any significant problems
  • Stays abreast of changes in the business lending field
  • Ensures work area is clean, secure, and well maintained

Education/Experience Required:

  • Requires a minimum of an Associates Degree or any equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years lending experience with financial institutions
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in Management
  • Proven track record of meeting established production goals, while retaining and maintaining relationships
