Job Description:

The Business Lending Processor handles basic to moderately complex loan processing and provides support to more junior processors. Responsibilities include handling member service requests, providing loan officer support, and completing tasks related to loan production. Ensures business member expectations are met throughout the loan process by acting as the liaison between the member and Business Service operations.

Essential Duties:

  • Process new loan requests, loan renewals and loan modifications. Interact with lending personnel, members, and branches to ensure all required information is received and to clarify any questions pertaining to loan approval.
  • Responsible for loan funding to ensure loan packages are complete and proper documentation is received to perfect lien on collateral taken. Track and maintain accurate records of collateral requirements and status of collateral documentation. Perform processing due diligence and collateral perfection, including but not limited to: UCC pre search, UCC filing, UCC post search, title reports, appraisals and reviews, flood determination, insurance certificate, Tax Service, and environmental reports.
  • Quality Control, including but not limited to, loan packages, funded loans, loan files, wire transfers, construction draws, pay-off quotes and participation payments.
  • Prepare and maintain loan files and scanned documents ensuring all required information is appropriately organized.
  • Responsible for construction draw processing and due diligence.
  • Responsible for training and providing support to new and more junior business lending processors as needed.
  • Track and maintain accurate records of significant events occurring during the life of the loan including but not limited to interest rate changes, term changes, insurance certificates, flood zone changes, unpaid property tax.
  • Responsible for set-up, monitoring and servicing of Purchased and Sold Participation Loans as well as processing monthly payments and reports corresponding as needed with participating lending institutions.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the credit unions business loan policy and ensures compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations as well as credit granting criteria.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy in input, updating and preparing new and existing loan documentation, loan disbursements. Responsible for the financial accuracy of all Business Services Department transactions, including loan-related fees and charges, and accurate use of departments GLs.
  • Understand member needs and professionally promotes appropriate credit union products and services.
  • Help members anticipate potential problems, offering suggestions and possible solutions.
  • Responsible for sending invoices to accounts payable associated with loan processing and maintaining borrower fee logs.
  • Responsible for ensuring files are compliant with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare correspondence related to lending processes or functions as necessary. Correspond with new and existing borrowers regarding loan funding and servicing issues, including but not limited to loan advances, payments, modifications, maintenance and payoffs.
  • Perform various office related duties such as answering telephones, email correspondence, keeping workspace organized and member data locked up after hours.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding member information at all times.
  • Demonstrate strong regulatory knowledge applicable to this position and understand and comply with government regulations with particular emphasis on the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), US Patriot Act and related regulations.
  • Actively participate and fulfill expectations in the Credit Union Email Security Awareness Program as outlined in the Information Security Program Acknowledgement document.

Minimum Requirements

Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience. Previous business/commercial lending experience including processing, closing and servicing. Thorough knowledge of business/commercial lending practices as well as loan products, closing and servicing guidelines.

Education: (1) A two-year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
