Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
– Serves as WECU’s BSA Compliance Officer.
– Administers the monitoring and maintenance of WECU’s BSA/AML and OFAC Program, including, but not limited to, the policies and procedures, risk assessment, internal control structure, reporting, and testing of program on enterprise and business unit levels to ensure ongoing compliance and alignment with current operations.
– Field, research, and answer BSA/OFAC compliance related questions in a timely manner.
– Responsible for performing ongoing risk assessments of the program at an enterprise level, which includes evaluating and quantifying the potential likelihood and impact of reportable suspicious activity through WECU.
– Leads, coordinates, and monitors credit union compliance with BSA and OFAC. Conducts reviews and assessments that ensure compliance at all levels, including accuracy of policies, procedures, disclosures, forms, marketing materials, etc.
– Works closely with business units to design an internal control structure for WECU that ensures appropriate reporting of cash and suspicious transactions, as well as ensure appropriate initial and ongoing consumer due diligence is carried out on a regular basis.
– Assist with the review and assessment of the processes that are maintained by business units for ongoing compliance with BSA and OFAC. Provide feedback to departments based on reviews and submit recommended changes to appropriate department lead for update, then ensure changes are completed appropriately.
– Performs regular reviews of high-risk members, as well as ensures compliance with WECU’s policy regarding service to marijuana related businesses.
– Ensure that all reports are E-filed with Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) within appropriate time periods to stay in compliance with the regulation and supervise the retention of BSA related forms and supporting documents for five years as required by BSA and WECU policy.
– Approve and maintain the Currency Transaction Report (CTR) exempt list, and perform regular reviews of each account on the list
– Assist in the preparation of the monthly and annual compliance report to the Board of Directors.
– Ensure all staff whose activities and responsibilities involve transactions and records covered by the BSA/AML & OFAC Program rules and related laws and regulations have initial and ongoing training.
– Prepare the annual BSA training for presentation to the Board.
– Work on project teams to represent BSA compliance when new products are being added or significant changes are being made to current systems.

Education/Experience Required:

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATION:
– Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
– Financial institution background experience preferred.
– Applicable compliance certification preferred or obtained within the first year of hire.
