The Collector role partners with our members to help them navigate their financial challenges and to find a common solution. Qualified candidates will have 1 year of experience in customer service and/or sales, previous collections experience is a plus but not required. Having a basic understanding of loan calculation and financial regulation will help you succeed. Are you the collector we are looking for?

Here’s what you can expect from the job and what you need to be successful:

Job Duties:

  • Make outbound collection attempts (on financial products like auto loans, credit cards, mortgages, etc.) by phone, mail, and e-mail according to the department standards
  • Accept inbound calls/e-mails and return phone calls and e-mails in a timely manner
  • Transact routine financial business or refer to appropriate team member
  • Explain or resolve defaults and delinquencies with members’ accounts
  • Review accounts for workout arrangements such as extensions, interest only payments, forbearance and partial payments
  • Conduct skip tracing, as necessary, to obtain contact information in order to contact delinquent/defaulted members
  • Review accounts for action such as repossession, foreclosure, legal filing, closure, suspension and charge off

Essential Skills:

  • Minimum 1 year of previous experience in customer service and/or sales required
  • Minimum 1 year of previous financial industry (bank or credit union) experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of previous experience in collections preferred
  • Spanish fluency required – reading, speaking, and writing
  • Thorough understanding of loan contracts and state laws relating to collections preferred
  • Demonstrated negotiations skills
  • Basic understanding of loan calculations including APR, amortization scheduled, simple interest calculations
  • Proficiency in basic mathematics, ten-key, calculator

Location: Hillsboro, OR

Schedule: Monday – Friday 6am – 6pm with rotating Saturdays 7:30am – 4pm
