Bankruptcy Specialist
Job Description:
A day in the life of a Member Solutions Bankruptcy Specialist:
- Work with vendors and attorneys to complete bankruptcy process
- Track and process bankruptcy notices, monitor and follow up on cases
- Communicate verbally and in writing with attorneys, members, and court trustees
- File proof of claims and reaffirmation agreements while ensuing deadlines are met
- Prepare monthly reports for bankruptcy tracking
- Process bankruptcy payments and account adjustments as assigned
- Provide high priority to member satisfaction: act in accordance with ACU Quality Service Standards
- Contact members by telephone, written correspondence and/or through outside collection services to resolve delinquent status. Negotiate and coordinate payment arrangements with members; originate loan extensions and work out agreements
- Recommend for charge-off, repossession and legal actions
- Will act as a credit union representative dealing with bankruptcies, small claims court, collection agencies, credit meetings, and attorney as required
- Stay current with regulations, operational changes and required training

Education and experience you already have:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum two-year successful work experience in account collections preferable in a financial institution and/or related field
Skills we are looking for:
- Should possess strong analytical ability and be able to work independently and in a team environment
- Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills; be highly motivated and well organized in order to accomplish work
- Ability to respond to 60-100 daily calls and ability to handle challenging and difficult members in a professional manner
- Requires a high level of experience and proficiency using computers and software including Symitar, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
- Must be detail oriented and have the ability to meet established priorities and deadlines
- Ability to gather and summarize data for reports, find solutions to various problems and prioritize work
- Ability to use 10-key calculator
