Job Description:

PFCU is seeking a AVP Finance –  Performs detailed and complex accounting operational assignments requiring advanced knowledge and application of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Credit Union’s policies and procedures. Main responsibilities include day to day operational accounting activities. Participate in special projects. Ensure departmental internal controls are adequate including following established procedures / policies under direct supervision of the President / CEO.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Perform, often manages, routine accounting functions, involving the general ledger, the financial report, with minimal supervision
  • Develop System and Maintains Schedules to Account for Fixed Assets Transactions by establishing a chart of accounts; defining policies and procedures; researching depreciation laws; recommending actions; completing depreciation transactions
  • Maintain and Balances Subsidiary Accounts and Database by verifying, allocating, scheduling, preparing and posting; investigating and reconciling transactions; processing fixed assets schedules
  • Maintain and Balances the General Ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries; preparing reports; investigating and reconciling transactions
  • Maintain Historical Records by filing documents; preparing and securing accounting documents; and backing up data base
  • Assist in the daily maintenance of accounting records and assists in the preparations of routine financial reports for management
  • Recommend and implement account practices approved by senior management
  • Perform accounting practices to ensure operating and financial statements accurate reflect condition of the credit union
  • Possibly provide work direction or supervision to a section of the Accounting/Finance, ALM
  • Develop System and Maintains Schedules to Account for Fixed Assets Transactions by establishing a chart of accounts; defining policies and procedures; researching depreciation laws; recommending actions; completing depreciation transactions
  • Maintain and Balances Subsidiary Accounts and Database by verifying, allocating, scheduling, preparing and posting; investigating and reconciling transactions; processing fixed assets schedules
  • Maintain and Balances the General Ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries; preparing reports; investigating and reconciling transactions
  • Maintain Historical Records by filing documents; preparing and securing accounting documents; and backing up data base. Verifies Investment Transactions by reviewing and correcting transactions
  • Maintain Accounting Ledgers by preparing cash transaction entries for general ledger
  • Maintain Filing System by compiling daily activity reports, bank reports, wire transfer payments, electronic payments, and tax payments
  • Maintain Corporate Accounts by ensuring compliance with procedures for safekeeping, maintenance, and control of special market collateral; executing and maintaining investment accounts; maintaining records and control of investment accounts; completing accounting functions
  • Control Investment Interface ensuring that accounts have been set up and approved prior to interface being submitted to the general ledger
  • Complete Investment Reports by completing required information

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Strong experience with financial systems

Preferred qualifications for this position includes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and or 8 years related experience in financial and operational accounting
