Starting Salary: $85,000 – $100,000 annually, plus excellent benefits

TAPCO Credit Union has an exciting opportunity as the Assistant Vice President of Community Relations.

This position is responsible for developing and implementing mutually beneficial relationships around community outreach, business development efforts, educational opportunities, and strategic community partnerships.  The position is responsible for identifying and cultivating key partnerships – both within the community and the credit union – to ensure alignment of TAPCO’s strategic priorities, promotion of its  corporate citizenship and social / business priorities and achievement of its impact related goals. As an ambassador of TAPCO within the community, this person will contribute to building TAPCO’s reputation in the strategic areas of focus for the credit union through implementing outreach strategies that propel the credit union towards its vision and mission.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to create and implement a community relations strategy and business plan that is aligned with TAPCO’s strategic objectives, impact efforts and is done through an equity lens.
  • Develop and cultivate relationship with local organizations, businesses, key community leaders, and local officials to increase TAPCO’s exposure/positive reputation in the community.
  • Identify, develop and maintain relationships with local organizations, civic groups, and other not-for-profits to identity, plan and execute financial education and community relations outreach.
  • Establish and maintain key partnerships within target segments, building TAPCO’s reputation and collaborating on opportunities to drive innovative solutions to meet community needs.
  • Create connections between community leaders/organizations and people at TAPCO, with an emphasis on two-way dialogue, collaboration and shared ideals.
  • Coordinate and lead (as needed) business development opportunities in partnership with Branch and Lending teams.
  • Provide support and guidance to the branches and/or marketing around their ability to execute on community events and engagement activities.
  • Actively participate in local community and civic organizations to foster strategic community and civic partnerships.
  • Identify opportunities and drive discussions around ways that TAPCO can positively drive issues of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in our communities.
  • Develop and execute presentations on TAPCO products, services, and the credit union difference for strategic community partners.
  • Communicate internally and externally in a manner that creates awareness and excitement around TAPCO’s community engagement programs and efforts, including collaboration with marketing to publicize TAPCO’s community and civic involvement via social and news media outlets.
  • Create and manage a community relations budget that maximizes TAPCO’s charitable giving efforts and resources.
  • Use contact management system to track and report on outreach activity and plan next steps; reports activity to COO on a regular basis.
  • Help promote the credit union’s market position and competitive edge.
  • Maintains an in-depth, up-to-date knowledge on all TAPCO products and services.
  • Assumes responsibility for other duties as assigned.

 

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in business development, sales and community relations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point).
  • Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with staff, board members, external partners and members.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize to meet work deadlines.
  • Understanding of the credit union’s field of membership.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team context.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Flexibility is necessary as an employee’s job responsibilities may change at any time during employment.

 

Position Working Conditions

  • The work environment is an office setting.
  • Travel by car may be required – must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle.
  • Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Frequently required to sit and stand for longer periods of time.
  • May need to respond to critical or emergency situations inside or outside of regular working hours.
