Gretchan Blum is the Director of Grassroots Advocacy for the Northwest Credit Union Association. She is responsible for the development and implementation of grassroots advocacy efforts and political action plan. In her role she works to excite credit unions to engage in the political process and supports policy advancement for Northwest Credit Unions at the state and federal level.

Blum joins NWCUA with extensive work experience in the legislative and policy arena. She served as a Professional Staff Member on the U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs under Chairman Johnny Isakson and worked as a Legislative Assistant advising on various policy issues for former U.S. Senator Mark Kirk. She began her career working in fundraising and development for WGBH in Boston, MA.

Blum holds a BA from Union College in New York and earned a MA from the School of International Service at American University in D.C.

She has experienced firsthand the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People” and is constantly inspired by their commitment to supporting their communities.
