Elizabeth Baker is the Communications Director for the Northwest Credit Union Association. In this role, she is responsible for developing and delivering timely, engaging messaging for the Association’s credit union members and leadership, overseeing and planning the weekly Anthem newsletter, supervising and contributing to the creation of digital and printed content, and other related communications responsibilities.
Baker brings extensive experience, with a background in higher education and healthcare communications, as well as many years spent as a newspaper journalist. She served in public relations and communications roles at higher education institutions, including Pima Medical Institute and Central Washington University, has worked as a public relations account manager at an agency in Tucson, owned and operated her own communications agency, and worked as a reporter in Washington state and Arizona. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in creative writing at the University of Arizona, where she also worked in her first newsroom as a campus public safety reporter for the university’s student-run newspaper, the Daily Wildcat.
Baker is inspired by the credit union model of giving back to its members and empowering them financially. The grassroots state-of-mind and members-first philosophy motivates her to give back as well, doing her part to further the Credit Union Movement.
