Wauna Credit Union Awards $12K in Student Scholarships

Wauna Credit Union (WCU), based out of Clatskanie, Oregon, is awarding $12,000 in scholarships to WCU student members throughout the Columbia and Clatsop County areas. 2022 marks over $400,000 in scholarships awarded to area students by the Credit Union.

WCU’s scholarship recipients are selected based on a variety of factors, including scholastic achievements, community involvement, extracurricular activities, and financial need. WCU services a large population of low-income families and so the need for financial assistance in the community is high.

“There are so many qualified and intelligent young people out there,” said Robert Blumberg, WCU CEO. “These final decisions are never easy, but it’s always inspiring to read through their journeys – we had a great response this year,” said Blumberg.

Ten students from seven area high schools and three colleges are recipients of this year’s WCU Scholarship program, ranging from $500 to $1,500 each. The 2022 WCU Scholarship recipients are:

  • Andrew Miller – Astoria
  • Kegan Rascoe – Astoira
  • Alex Tapia – Warrenton
  • Josiah Jones – Clatskanie
  • Wyatt Macdonald – Astoria
  • Jessica Butcher – Vernonia
  • Grace Tallman – Clatskanie
  • Kaitlin Dahla – Scappoose
  • Caleb Bostic – Clatskanie
  • Delfina Acfalle – Astoria

“Congratulations to all 2022 graduates and those continuing education,” said Blumberg. “We are looking forward to the bright futures you’ll build.”
