YCUP PDX Raises More than $1,000 for Ukrainian Credit Union Displacement Fund

Young Professionals networking group YCUP PDX recently hosted its first event of 2022, which raised funds for the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions’ Ukrainian Credit Union Displacement Fund.

The fund aims to mitigate both the short- and long-term impacts Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has on the Ukrainian credit union system and those that look to it for support. Between the generosity of attendees and YCUP PDX’s commitment to match donations, the group raised more than $1,000.

The virtual gathering, called “Credit Unions & Cocktails,” invited credit union professionals to network with their peers and discuss an important but often ignored issue: burnout. Specifically, the group discussed the warning signs of burnout, how to combat it, and what steps their credit unions had taken to prioritize the mental well-being of employees over the past two years.

Attendees also honored National Women’s History Month during the event by shining the spotlight on four women-owned businesses in the Portland Metropolitan area. They included Mimi’s Fresh Tees, Honeybee Lemonade Syrups, Helen Rose Skin Co., and Marigold Coffee. During the event, YCUP PDX gave out four $25 gift cards to spend at those businesses.

A self-proclaimed “emotional and career support group,” YCUP PDX was founded in 2008 to foster connection and collaboration among passionate credit union young professionals across the region. The group has rallied around numerous causes over the past few years, raising money for LGBTQIA+ populations, BIPOC groups, Credit Unions for Kids, and more.

The YCUP PDX Board of Directors is made up of the following individuals:
