11 Northwest Credit Unions Take Home Dazzling CUNA Diamond Awards

Credit unions’ creative, innovative, and effective marketing strategies took center stage earlier this month during the CUNA Diamond Awards, held the final day of the CUNA Marketing and Business Development Council Conference in Los Angeles, California.

Eleven credit unions across Idaho, Oregon, and Washington took home dozens of sparkling trophies representing wins in 35 categories, ranging from annual reports and logos to videos and financial education. Judges evaluated entries based on strategy, design, production, creative concept, copy, communication, and results. This year’s Diamond Awards competition received 1,195 entries – 86 credit unions won Category’s Best Awards and 262 won Diamond Awards.

“Diamond Awards are the gold standard of achievement in credit union marketing and business development,” said Marella Nardotti, Chair, Diamond Awards, and VP of Marketing, NextMark Credit Union. “Inventiveness in effectively achieving and exceeding objectives is what these awards honor.”

The same evening, Northwest credit union champion Michael Murdoch, who serves as Marketing Manager at Clatskanie, Oregon-based Wauna Credit Union, was recognized on stage with a prestigious Recognition Award: Volunteer of the Year. Murdoch is an active community servant, who has dedicated countless hours to various causes and nonprofits in Oregon over the years. During his acceptance speech, Murdoch reflected on the very first time he saw the impact of his volunteerism during a shift at a food bank, explaining that it changed him forever.

“These efforts are supported by countless individuals, from those we help to those who help — this award belongs not to me, but to the councils, committees, and task-forces who make mountain-shifting differences. Gratitude goes to this grand system and to those who continue the fight for a brighter future,” said Murdoch.
