Unitus Celebrates 2021 Accomplishments; Makes Annual Meeting More Inclusive for Diverse Membership

Unitus Community Credit Union held its 85th Annual Meeting, celebrating the accomplishments and contributions of 2021 last week. For the first time ever, Unitus offered live Spanish and American Sign Language interpretation, making the meeting more inclusive for the credit union’s diverse membership.

Unitus chose to offer a virtual meeting with live presenters via Zoom. This platform gave meeting access to 114 participants who joined remotely. Leveraging technology to improve the member experience is a part of Unitus’ strategy to create a more inclusive culture among employees, membership, and our community.

“When we look back at our accomplishments each year, we recognize that none of them is possible without our membership,” explained Steven Stapp, President and CEO of Unitus Community Credit Union. “That’s why it’s so important for us to include members in our Annual Meeting and celebrations throughout the year. Our members make everything we do possible.”

Among the highlights from the Annual Meeting: record loan growth in 2021, earning Inclusiv’s Juntos Avanzamos designation, and record-setting community giving, up 49% over the prior year. All of Unitus’ 2021 celebrations are highlighted in the Annual Meeting video. Unitus also produced its 2021 Annual Report and Community Impact Report in both English and Spanish.

“Building upon our efforts to be a more inclusive credit union, we’re committed to engaging with all members, meeting them where they are, to help them reach their financial goals,” said Stapp. “We are actively working to remove barriers to banking, especially for those who have been historically underserved by the financial industry.”

Unitus plans to build upon the inclusive technology, accessibility, and language offerings in future member engagement opportunities. A recording of the Annual Meeting is available on YouTube.
