The Next Step Your Credit Union Should Take to Prepare for Disaster

If the past couple of years taught us anything, it’s that the next crisis or disaster could be just around the corner. We’ve seen it all lately: wildfires, catastrophic flooding, a pandemic, and more.

While these times have highlighted credit unions’ resiliency, their dedication to their teams, and focus on world-class service to members, it’s also clear that more turnkey resources are needed to help credit unions modernize their business continuity plans.

The Northwest Credit Union Association is pleased to provide that resource: RecoveryPro.

“Credit unions told us they need a support system that includes templates and sample content so they have an updated business continuity plan the entire team can use,” said David Curtis, Director of Compliance Services. “RecoveryPro is the best solution we’ve seen. Its planning guides provide direction and support to your team and make the content development process user-friendly.”

The program walks credit unions through a complete business impact analysis to identify and prioritize key business processes,  the creation of a business continuity plan for use in recovering from a disaster, and an incident management plan for use in responding to a developing event. RecoveryPro provides credit unions with options to customize their plans and add additional elements such as risk assessment and comprehensive policies.

RecoveryPro is available to all NWCUA member credit unions, through the association’s partnership with League InfoSight. The pricing is based on asset size and is considered a good investment to help ensure credit unions successfully navigate crises.

“Preparing for crises or disasters is complex,” Curtis said. “RecoveryPro offers a host of resources that will help credit unions be ready for the unexpected and continue to protect their members’ assets.”
