CapEd’s Todd Erickson Joins NWCUA Board of Directors

The Northwest Credit Union Association Board of Directors recently appointed Todd Erickson, President and CEO of Meridian, Idaho-based CapEd Federal Credit Union, as the Board’s newest member.

Erickson formally took his seat on Jan. 1, and steps into the remainder of the three-year Board term held by Kent Oram, which ends in October. Oram, CEO of Idaho Central Credit Union, announced his resignation from the Board this fall and officially stepped down Dec. 31.

Erickson began his career in the credit union industry in 1990 starting at the Idaho Credit Union League as a staff auditor. He became an accounting supervisor at CapEd in 1994 and moved up the ranks to become Vice President of Finance and Executive Vice President. He became President and CEO in 2008.

“Todd brings a stellar record of credit union leadership, advocacy, and engagement,” said NWCUA Board President Jeff Adams, President and CEO of Spokane-based Horizon Credit Union. “His accomplishments and leadership will inspire the future work of the NWCUA and attract other well-qualified, high-performing individuals to engage in the Association’s work. I look forward to working with him to advance the Northwest Credit Union Movement.”

Erickson served as Vice-Chair on the Idaho Credit Union League Board, a position he held when ICUL and NWCUA signed a joint management agreement that led the two organizations to merge in 2018. Since then, he has served on multiple NWCUA governance committees and boards.

“Todd’s industry experience and influence continue the rich tradition modeled by the entire Northwest Board,” said Troy Stang, NWCUA President and CEO. “The deepest gratitude is owed to all of our Board members for leaning in with intention and dedication to advancing the not-for-profit, cooperative credit union model.”

Stang also praised Oram for his service.

“Our three-state Association owes a huge debt of gratitude to Kent for his thoughtful guidance and leadership,” said Stang. “Though the merger that brought Idaho together with Oregon and Washington in this current iteration of NWCUA, as well as the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic, Kent’s calm, capable, and steady hand kept us focused on the priorities that matter to Northwest credit unions and their members. The members of Idaho Central Credit Union are extraordinarily lucky to have him looking after their interests — and we thank them for sharing Kent’s talents and leadership.”

In addition to Adams and Erickson, other members of the NWCUA Board of Directors are:

  • Vice-Chair – Larry Ellifritz, President and CEO, Consolidated Community Credit Union
  • Secretary/Treasurer – Trisha Baker, President and CEO, Lewis Clark Credit Union
  • Executive Committee Member – Don Clark, President and CEO, Sound Credit Union
