Columbia Credit Union Promotes Two Branch Managers

Columbia Credit Union has announced they are enhancing the support and leadership systems of their Branch Network with the creation of two new positions. The reorganization sees the promotions of current branch managers Julie Bocanegra and Dan Souvenir to the position of VP Branches Regional Manager. Under the new structure, Columbia CU will operate with two branch regions led by Bocanegra and Souvenir as part of the credit union’s renewed emphasis on support, mentoring, and member service, says VP Branch Services head Tiffany McGuire.

“Julie’s can-do attitude, inspiring teamwork skills, and operational knowledge are what have propelled her from a teller when she got her start with us back in 1994 all the way to the VP Branches Regional Manager role today,” said McGuire. “Her knowledge of Columbia CU’s history and membership is unmatched—not to mention she is an incredible optimist and an amazing positive force to work alongside every day.”

“Dan brings strong leadership experience to our team, as well as recent advancement through the Consumer Bankers Association” adds McGuire. “His coaching experience, calm demeanor, and great sense of humor are welcome additions to our branch network leadership team as he supports our common goal of making life better for our people and our members.”

“I look forward to Julie’s and Dan’s elevated roles in our branch network as we continue adding layers of support, development, and exceptional member experience at every branch.”

In addition to these internal promotions, Columbia Credit Union has welcomed two new faces to their VP Branch Managers team — Jerrell Owens and Julia Brown will head the credit union’s Buckman Branch on 10th & Belmont St in Portland and Battle Ground Fred Meyer Branch, respectively.

Owens brings over two decades of financial service experience, leadership, and business development to Columbia Credit Union’s growing Portland footprint.

“Jerrell has always put his focus on both the member experience and the continued growth and learning of his teams,” says McGuire. “Just like Columbia Credit Union, he’s been involved in the community for years—he’s the perfect addition to our team.”

“I am excited to join the Buckman team because of the tremendous potential I can see going forward here in Portland,” said Owens. “I feel we have a real opportunity to make a name for ourselves.”

Brown comes to Battle Ground with 21 years of credit union experience.

“Julia’s knowledge as a CUNA Certified Financial Counselor will not only be great for our Battle Ground team, but the new perspectives she’ll share will be invaluable among our branch leaders as well,” adds McGuire. “I am looking forward to being part of a team that looks out for the community and each other,” said Brown. “I’ve been met with warmth, kindness, and support and I can’t wait to start making lives better at Columbia Credit Union.”
