WOCCU Announces 2021 International Credit Union Day Theme
August 31, 2021
Since 1948, credit unions across the globe have rallied together on the third Thursday in October to celebrate International Credit Union Day — a day dedicated to reflecting on the Movement’s history and achievements, and to raising awareness about the value credit unions bring to their members and communities.
This year, ICU Day is Oct. 21. The World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) recently announced the 2021 theme, Building Financial Health for a Brighter Tomorrow.
Northwest credit unions and Micro-Communities have always used ICU Day as an opportunity to fully lean into the power of cooperative spirit and give back to the communities they serve. They’ve organized clean-up projects at local parks, volunteered at food banks and homeless shelters, provided assistance to low-income seniors, raised funds for charities, and more. Check out a recap of what credit unions in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington accomplished last year.
Credit unions can visit WOCCU’s website to learn more about this year’s theme and access marketing materials to help drive their projects, including official posters and logos. For ideas on how to celebrate, check out this page.
Planning something special for ICU Day? We’d love to hear all about it! Email us, and your credit union may be featured in Anthem later this fall.
