Discover What’s Next for the Economy and Which Risks May Be Worth the Reward
The last five CU Learning TRAXX sessions of the year go live tomorrow — there’s still time to register!
Tomorrow marks the last live session day of CU Learning TRAXX, and each of the five future-focused sessions are a must-attend! The Northwest credit union community will hear from a strong lineup of experts and thought leaders, including some new names — and some familiar faces.
Those who attended the first session of the Financial Strategy track, Point Counterpoint Part One, will recognize economists Jason Haley, Steve Rick, and John Worth, who each offered unique perspectives and compelling forecasts for the economic recovery of COVID-19. If you missed it, this session, as well as all past CU Learning TRAXX programming, is available to stream on-demand.
A lot has changed since that first session, and the three experts will reconvene tomorrow during Point Counterpoint Part Two to discuss the latest available data and reassess their predictions for economic scenarios that may lie ahead. Don’t miss this timely update critical to your strategic planning for the upcoming year.
Haley is ALM First’s Chief Investment Officer. He heads ALM First’s Investment Management Group (IMG) and is portfolio manager for the Trust for Credit Unions mutual funds. Rick is the Chief Economist for CUNA Mutual Group, where he conducts strategic research, analysis, and forecasting of the financial services industry. Worth is the Executive Vice President for Research and Investor Outreach at Nareit, the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts. He leads Nareit’s internal and external research efforts and directs Nareit’s investor outreach and education initiatives.
Take and Mitigate Risk with Confidence
Mitigating and taking risk is central to successful credit union operations. But, in times of crisis, how can credit unions realign operations to mitigate emerging risks while, at the same time, taking necessary risks, such as employing the credit union’s capital to meet the needs of struggling members and communities?
Tomorrow, join the sixth and final Enterprise Risk Management session, Developing Your Credit Union’s Risk Appetite to Maximize Impact, to hear from thought leaders Bill Hampel and Jeff Owen, who have decades of experience in this arena. Discover how enterprise risk management can both preserve a credit union’s value AND help members at the same time.
Following a long and successful career as Chief Economist and Chief Policy Officer of CUNA, Hampel is now an economic consultant specializing in explaining trends in the economy and financial institutions to business leaders. Owen is the Chief Operating Office at Rochdale Paragon, a leader in enterprise risk management, strategic planning, governance, lending support, and consulting for financial institutions.
