Get Ready to Raise Your Paddles for Children in Need of Life-Saving Health Care

Nov. 12 virtual auction and new online fundraising platform brings Northwest credit unions together for Credit Unions for Kids.

Northwest credit unions are resoundingly committed to raising funds for the Movement’s charity of choice, Credit Unions for Kids. While this year poses some challenges for in-person events, that’s not stopping credit unions.

In past years, credit unions came together at MAXX, where they raised their paddles in friendly competition, bringing in a record-breaking $900,000 in 2019. They also hosted golf tournaments and other fun events to get the dollars rolling in.

This year, those efforts have transformed into new opportunities to raise funds virtually through a reimagined auction and a new fundraising platform, built exclusively for Northwest credit unions.

On Nov. 12, the Northwest credit union family will come together virtually for “Cheers and Chocolates — Coming Together for CU4Kids.” This hour-long, virtual fundraiser will continue the long tradition of raising money for children in need of life-saving care at Children’s Miracle Network hospitals across the region.

“Credit unions created CU4Kids right here in the Northwest, in 1986, so it comes as no surprise that they’re eager to continue the fundraising tradition this year,” said Holly Miller, NWCUA Programming Director. “Technology allows us to come together more now than ever before. We’re looking forward to a big turnout at the auction.”

The auction will feature this year’s Miracle Child, Elle Fischer, delectable wine and chocolate tastings delivered straight to your door, live auction items, and bidding on the ever-popular electric cars, which will be donated to each of the region’s eight CMN hospitals.

A lively virtual wine and chocolate tasting will be led by an expert vintner and chocolatier. Attendees can choose wine, chocolate, or both, which will be mailed to them directly prior to the auction. All purchase proceeds will go to CU4Kids. Attendees can also opt to skip the treats and just purchase a ticket for the live auction.

In addition, credit unions are encouraged to donate live auction items for this year’s event. They can do so by filling out this form online. Several auction sponsorship options are also available. Reach out to Miller for further information on sponsorship opportunities.

Visit “Cheers and Chocolates — Coming Together for CU4Kids” online to purchase your ticket. Credit unions are encouraged to mark their calendars for the event, to be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., PST.

First-of-its-Kind CU4Kids Online Fundraising Platform Launched

In addition to the upcoming auction, credit unions now have a new way to fundraise online, through a platform created by NWCUA, CMN, and Frontstream. The platform provides credit unions, Chapters, and individuals with the opportunity to create their own fundraising page, where they can add text, images, and more. It’s stocked with many online fundraising ideas and toolkits to get the ideas flowing.

“We’re already seeing some great fundraisers on the platform,” said Miller. “This new website will bring credit unions together, where they can ‘out-fundraise’ each other for a good cause. We’re excited to see how our credit union family uses it and to see successful fundraisers in the coming months.”

The platform features a custom page for each hospital region, with current Miracle Child stories and photos. An activation toolkit is available online to assist with building a fundraising page.

Credit unions are encouraged to customize their page and share it with staff, members, and others who want to contribute to this important cause.
