CU Learning TRAXX: How are Credit Unions Changing the World?

Five new sessions kick off tomorrow featuring a variety of thought leaders and industry experts who will weigh in on topics circulating the Credit Union Movement.

During CU Learning TRAXX tomorrow, three thought leaders representing different corners of the globe will lead an inspiring dialogue on how credit unions are catalysts for change. Having spent years watching credit unions improve the lives of millions globally, Gisele Gomes, Marlene Shiels, and Steve Stapp will join Inform the Future: Credit Unions Are Changing the World, to share key perspectives and wisdom from their time in the Credit Union Movement.

Here’s a Closer Look at Some of  Tomorrow’s Speakers

Gomes is an Ambassador for the Global Women’s leadership Network in Brazil and a member of Sicredi Credit Union. She’s also the founder of Gisele Gomes Co., a consulting firm that seeks to advance initiatives around diversity, equity, inclusion, and women’s leadership. Gomes also serves on the Steering Committee for the World Young Credit Union Professionals initiative through the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU).  

Shiels is the Chief Executive of Capital Credit Union, based in Edinburgh, Scotland, which has been recognized as one of the most successful, innovative, and visionary credit unions in Britain. She was one of the founding members of the credit union, established in 1989, and has served as Chief Executive since 2001.

Stapp is the President and CEO of Unitus Community Credit Union, headquartered in Portland. He’s led the credit union since 2016, and prior to Unitus, Stapp served as the President and CEO of San Francisco Federal Credit Union for eight years. He’s also the immediate past Board Chairman of the WOCCU, having concluded his service this year.
