Global Credit Union Hosts Virtual Walk MS Event Amid COVID-19

Since 2013, Global Credit Union has participated in Walk MS events, helping to raise funds for those affected by multiple sclerosis. In the past, Global raised money through the generosity of members who frequented its lobbies. But this year, due to COVID-19, the Spokane-based credit union had to get creative with its fundraising efforts.

In order to comply with social distancing recommendations, Global held a virtual Walk MS event on Sunday, April 26. The event, which garnered strong engagement on the credit union’s social media pages, raised approximately $2,600 for the National MS Society, with fundraising continuing through the end of the month.

There were a total of 29 Global employee participants, all led by Global’s Digital Experience Manager and Walk MS Captain, Shannon Mitchell. The credit union also did some unique internal fundraising, such as prize drawings for Global swag when employees reached certain dollar milestones.

“Our Global team is comprised of driven and motivated individuals,” said Mitchell. “The money that our team is working to raise will be used to conduct research that will provide life-changing programs for those affected by multiple sclerosis.”
