Washington Credit Union Day at the Capitol is on the Books!

Washington credit union advocates braved the rain, coming together in Olympia to share positive credit union news with elected officials.

Jordan Beyer, NWCUA Grassroots Advocacy Manager, kicked the day off with a training for new attendees. Jordan encouraged the audience to share their stories with legislators, noting that we, as credit union professionals are the subject matter experts.

NWCUA President & CEO Troy Stang noted 4.3 million Washingtonians trust their financial futures to credit unions. He also celebrated several credit unions that brought impressively large delegations to the group, among them WECU, iQ Credit Union, and Fibre Federal Credit Union.

Advocates enjoyed seeing an old friend–Representative Larry Hoff (R-18)—former President and CEO of Fibre FCU. He shared advice for making the most of the meetings with legislators. He encouraged attendees to build relationships with their elected officials, connecting with them in the district as well as in the Capitol.

Richard Gose, Chief Political Officer with the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) was also in attendance. Richard echoed the messages shared in the morning, saying, “We are focused on showing the credit union difference, not just through the members but through the community.”

There was a notable buzz in the air as advocates held successful meetings with their legislators.
