November Special Elections Results in WA - December 16, 2019

With November’s elections now certified we can officially announce the outcomes of Washington’s two special legislative elections, not that the results were ever in question given a strong showing by two credit union supporters.

Both Senator Liz Lovelett, D-Anacortes, and Rep. Alex Ybarra, R-Quincy, were appointed to fill the open seats during the 2019 legislative session with both then running for the seat and winning their respective elections in November.

In addition to having that in common, both are strong credit union supporters and long-time members. Additionally, Senator Lovelett has been selected to vice chair the Senate Energy, Environment and Technology Committee, which is overseeing data privacy legislation that is of great interest to our credit unions. Rep. Ybarra is also a member of the House Consumer Protection and Business Committee that reviews legislation regulating financial institutions.

If you live in either of their districts you will have the opportunity to meet with them at your upcoming Credit Union Day at the Capitol on February 6th in Olympia. Click here for more information.
