Lou Savage Takes Reins as Acting Director at Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services
Savage brings nearly a decade of DCBS leadership experience to the temporary role.
When former Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services Director Cameron Smith resigned last week to launch a campaign for Secretary of State, Governor Kate Brown’s office quickly tapped a veteran DCBS leader to serve as Acting Director. Lou Savage has already taken the reins.
“I am proud of the care this department provides Oregonians and local businesses,” Savage said. “It is an honor to lead DCBS during this transition.”
Savage knows the ropes at DCBS. Since 2016, he has served as administrator of the Workers’ Compensation Division and was the senior policy advisory and legislative director for DCBS for nearly 10 years. He also served as the Oregon Insurance Commissioner from 2011-2013.
A national search for a permanent DCBS Director is planned. The Northwest Credit Union Association will monitor the process and provide the Governor’s office with input.
