Cascadia Chapter Hosts Bingo Fundraising Event for Local Non-Profit

On Oct. 3, the Cascadia Chapter of Credit Unions hosted its first Bingo night fundraiser benefiting Portland Homeless Family Solutions.

PHFS is a local non-profit in Portland, whose mission is to empower homeless families with children to get back into housing and stay long-term. With nearly 100 attendees, the Chapter was able to raise close to $700 in just a few short hours.

On top of focusing this event on the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People,” the Chapter was also had three guest speakers come up during each round of Bingo to give their version of a TEDTalk centered around credit unions.

Tiffany Pillars from Providence Federal Credit Union, Davis Sweetman from Rivermark Community Credit Union, and Michael Murdoch from Wauna Credit Union each took the floor, leaving attendees e even more inspired and excited about credit unions than when they walked in the door. The Chapter incorporated speakers in between Bingo rounds, to bring the credit union difference full circle in one event.

Several local businesses donated over 15 prizes to be won that evening, and Rivermark graciously hosted the space. Several attendees expressed how much fun they had, and that they hope to see it come back next year! Who knew so many people just wanted to play Bingo and raise money?

This event was so exciting to see come together, as it was the first time the Chapter had hosted such an event, and it looks forward to bringing it back next year with goals doubling our fundraising efforts, doubling our attendance, and doubling the fun!
