Northwest Credit Union Advocates in D.C.

This week 17 credit union advocates traveled to Washington, D.C. as part of our Fall Hike the Hill, where they met with members of the House and Senate from all three states and NCUA Chairman, Rodney Hood.

The advocates helped champion important issues for credit unions during this pivotal and busy time back in D.C. Among the highest of our priorities was ensuring we continue to support credit union friendly language in this year’s Nation Defense Authorization Act, and to ensure that big banks don’t use this piece of legislation to simply make more money off of military members and their families.

We also advocated on a number of key legislative priorities like the SAFE Banking Act supported by the majority of our Congressional delegation, and a key priority to better allow credit unions and all financial institutions to serve the legal marijuana businesses.

Thank you to those leaders who joined us in this important work and we encourage you to consider joining us in our Nation’s Capitol this coming February for the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference.
